A Word From Our Principal Welcome to the 2009 -10 school year.We are looking forward to an exciting and successful school year for all students. This year will have a different look as we begin the trimester schedule. However some of the initiatives from last school year, which we felt made a difference for our students and staff, will again be present this year such as the 9th grade orientation day on Sept. 8th, the plan test for all 10th grade students and the school- wide focus on writing. These initiatives support our school improvement goals of increased achievement in the areas of math and writing. Also new for this year, we are pleased to announce the implementation of Ed-Line, our online communication tool for parents to check their student’s grades and attendance. It also provides a convenient method for us to communicate with parents via e-mail.To get registered for this service parents need to call (662-4481) or e-mail Mrs. Clark at to obtain an access code which will allow you to set your own password.I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity in hope of improving school communication as well as keeping you updated with your child’s progress.Additionally, there are many support items available online for students such as text book support with practice tests, ACT practice tests and our career exploration site. I would like to invite everyone to our curriculum night on the 16th of September from 5-7pm.This will be an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and learn more about the classes they are enrolled in.As always, we encourage parental involvement in student’s education and we believe that working together provides a better learning opportunity for your child. I want to wish all students and parents a great and successful school year.Feel free to call or email anytime.GO WARRIORS!!! Phil Heller, Principal Western High School
