DUAL ENROLLMENT:
Sophomores who would like to attend both high school and college in their junior and/or senior years are encouraged to take the PLAN or PSAT test. If students receive qualifying scores (please see your counselor for details) on the PSAT, PLAN, MME or ACT test, they may be eligible for the district to pay for their college classes. The district does not pay for classes that we offer in our curriculum. Students should work closely with their counselor to determine eligibility and courses that have district paid tuition available.
Dual Enrollment for Technical Courses: Students who are interested in taking technical courses under dual enrollment may qualify for the tuition and fees to be paid by the school district. Qualifications include: being enrolled in at least one high school vocational or Career Center class, be a junior or senior , and have qualifying test score(s). The course must be one that is not offered by the school district or through the BAISD Career Center. Courses taken at Delta College can be fully covered by the district. Private colleges or training programs may be only partly covered. Students are responsible for transportation and the cost of textbooks and materials for the course. Students who drop a class after the full refund deadline has passed are responsible for paying the school district back for the course tuition and fees.
Some courses at the Career Center and in the district already have college credit attached to them. Students should work closely with their high school counselors and their technical instructors to determine what courses they may take to avoid duplication. Credit can be earned at either the high school or college or both. With the class of 2003 and beyond students must show on their transcripts credit for courses the school district pays for. Students earn a credit (Cr.) for these courses. Credits from technical programs transfers to Bay City Public Schools as follows:
*3, 4, or 5 credit classes equals 1.5 high school credits
