Western High School "opt-out" information

A student who is not enrolled in a course may choose to opt-out of the class by demonstrating a reasonable level of mastery of the subject matter. Passing of the opt-out exam with a C+ or better means that credit towards graduation has been earned, prerequisites waived, and graduation requirements fulfilled. Opt-out exams will be administered during the second full week of August and the second full week of December.

Written notification by a student to opt-out of a course offered must be received by Mrs. Stine by June 15th (for the August test) or by October 15th (for the December test). Please contact Mrs. Stine if you have any questions regarding the opt-out process.

Physical Education Waiver

Physical Education Waiver was established in 2003.

This waiver will be for one of the following:

1. Participate in a "Varsity Team" for one season and have earned the varsity letter.

2. Participate in the Marching Band for one year. Either waiver has a process for those students who can't afford to pay to play in sports or band camp.

Please see your Athletic Director or Band Director. Once waiver requirements are fulfilled, students must request the form from their counselor.
